The Anton Bauer Elora power system is a single battery hotswap solution. Being a true hotswap solution it is able to provide 24/7 uptime by continously swapping batteries. This is accomplished using specific Anton Bauer batteries which range in capacity from 90Wh up to 240Wh. The Elora system only supports one battery at a time, but it has a small built in backup battery so IT equipment remains powered on while swapping the battery out. Because the new Elora solution is single battery only it has only half the capacity of the legacy solution and many of it’s competitors. This solution has an option for a built in AC power supply for on cart charging in the event no charged batteries are available or swapping them out is not a viable option. The Elora is quite light and should not effect the mobility of the carts. The Elora system is self contained in a small enclosure, but requires mount brackets to attach the unit to carts. Anton Bauer does not provide any specialized mounting brackets for the power system so a custom bracket must be designed or purchased to integrate it onto a mobile cart. Integration and configuration of the solution is much simpler than the legacy system and while often times a specialist is advised, facility staff could install the system. There is an included external power meter which emulates the smiley face pain scale that nurses use. The downside to this meter is that percentages or time remaining is not shown and no GUI or server based software is currently available. The meter also uses a proprietary USB cable which we have found to be too short in some cases and it cannot be extended currently. Anton Bauer does not provide onsite warranty support so any defective units must be returned for repair. Unfortunately this is true for even certain minor repairs such as pins and cabling. Initial versions of the Elora system have been know to have issues with the fuel gauges where they can get stuck an initialization screen and the internal batteries must be totally drained to reset it. Overall the Anton Bauer Elora solution provides reliable 24/7 uptime for users while still providing the option to charge batteries on cart.
