Positives

Hotswap batteries for 24/7 uptime. Supports dual batteries for extended runtimes. Extremely light on the cart.

Negatives

Requires 3rd party mounting solutions. Banana pins on battery mounts can break easily if batteries are not handled properly. No built in charger so if no batteries are available the cart cannot be powered.

The Anton Bauer legacy power system is a dual battery DC hotswap power system. Being a true hotswap solution it is able to provide 24/7 uptime by continuously swapping batteries. This is accomplished using specific Anton Bauer batteries which range in capacity from 90Wh up to 240Wh. With two batteries this gives a max capacity of of 480Wh. The solution drains both batteries at the same time so both need to be swapped at the same time, but it does not have a built in backup battery so the batteries must be swapped one at a time to ensure that the IT equipment remains powered on. This solution does not have an option for on cart charging so the batteries must be charged using separate charging bays. tThis system is very light and will not effect the mobility of the carts. Anton Bauer does not provide any specialized mounting brackets for the power system so a custom bracket must be designed or purchased to integrate it onto a mobile cart. Integration and configuration of the solution is complex and should only be performed by a trained technician. There is an included external power meter to show the end users the remaining run time and there is a client software available for on screen displays. No server based management software is available for this solution. Because the solution is DC output only if end users want to use AC equipment they must add in a 3rd party inverter which must be stored somewhere on the cart. Anton Bauer does not provide onsite warranty support so any defective units must be returned for repair. Unfortunately this is true for even certain minor repairs such as pins and cabling. Overall the Anton Bauer hot swap solution provides reliable 24/7 uptime for users who cannot afford to have the carts stationary for 3 hour charging cycles.
